Alice Tai captured her first individual Paralympic title as Great Britain's swimmers secured three gold medals in a remarkable 40-minute span on Saturday.
Tai claimed victory in the S8 100m backstroke, just moments after Stephen Clegg and William Ellard both set world records to win their events.
The 25-year-old, who missed the Tokyo Games in 2021 due to injury and underwent a right leg amputation in 2022 to alleviate persistent pain, described the procedure as "a great thing" for her. She triumphed with a Paralympic record time of 1:09.06.
Stephen Clegg, 28, earned his first Paralympic gold by dominating the S12 100m backstroke final, finishing in 59.02 seconds.
William Ellard, 18, shattered the previous world record in the S14 200m freestyle, clocking in at 1:51.30. This marked Ellard's second medal of the Games, following his silver in the S14 100m butterfly on Thursday.
Adding to the medal haul, Poppy Maskill secured silver and Louise Fiddes took bronze in the S14 women’s 200m freestyle.
This is also Maskill’s second medal of the Games, following her victory in the 100m on Thursday.
At just 13 years old, Iona Winnifrith, the youngest member of ParalympicsGB in Paris, will compete in the SM7 individual medley at 19:10 BST.
